the last day of the exhibition at Aanschouw

From the website Aanschouw

Maki is explaining about the work to the one of the organizers.

I happened to have the bottles of the "Aromatic Journey #1 -my memories of Japan-", so I just made a small presentation of the scent.

FoAM's gathering

On June 15th at the FoAM's Researcher's gathering,
I've made a small demo of my new scent.

impressions of the seaweed scent:
"smells like shell organism which is dead"
"smells like the sea"
"smells like the white bubbles of the river"

impressions of the cherry blossom scent:
"grandma's smell"
"reminds me of walking along the shore in Australia"
"umeboshi"
"plum"

The quality of the scent seems quite good. Offcourse! It's just bottled the day before.

Kate Rich presented her own "FERAL TRADE" project - she made her original fair trade network completely by herself. It's an art project but at the same time, you could purchase the product directly from the farmer through the social network webbed by her initiative.

Pix presented awesome images and animations made by the pure mathmatical formula. If I would have had played around with such a beauty during my youth, I would have gotten much more into math.

TheunKarelse presented his garment research. He has researched about the garment protecting the body like sport ware and like gear for being in the air / water / wind / cosmos. Very interesting research which also surveys the challange of human imaginations.

FoAM is always 'cosy', with drinks and foods.

I'm currently exhibiting at the small gallery "Aanschouw".

what: experiment - red wine chromatography -
    when: 15th - 22th, June 2007
where: at the bar "de Schouw" on the Witte de Withstraat, Rotterdam.

It's an experiment of the chromatography with the red wine.
The color substances of the red wine are separated with the paper chromatography.

These photos below show how I am making.
I first soaked the paper in the red wine for a couple of times,

    and then dried it,
and put it in the water (only 1cm from the bottom).

As the paper absorbs the water, the color substance travels further.
The pink color travels, for example, much faster than the color blue and that difference makes this beautiful gradation of the colors.

painting with red wine - chromatography

Lately I have pollen allergy and my nose is stuck.
So I decided to do something else than working with my nose.

Currently I am experimenting with the chromatography.
Here is the one with red wine.

The result of the experiment is to be exhibited at the bar Aanschow on the Witte de Withstraat from this friday night.
