at FoAM (Brussels, BL)
To celebrate the fertile relationships between humans and plants, FoAM (Brussels, Belgium) invited artists, gardeners, cooks & engineers, to share their prototypes, works in progress and other curiosa at the groWorld bazaar.
The stalls will include local and trans-local produce, such as:

I'll present a perfume series "The Scents of Holland" at the renewal opening of former De Kustsuper. They'll move to new location close to CBK Rotterdam. Hope to see you there!

Zaterdag 29 augustus 2009 opent de Kunstmarkt zijn deuren aan de Van Speykstraat 129, nabij de kruising met de Nieuwe Binnenweg. De over een vloeroppervlak van 250 m2 beschikkende KunstMarkt is een onderdeel van De KunstSuper. De KunstSuper zal zich in de toekomst vooral richten op haar expositiefunctie.
In de KunstMarkt aan de Van Speykstraat kan de bezoeker ‘betaalbare kunst uit het schap’ aanschaffen. Mede gezien de sociaal-economische positie van veel bewoners in het Oude Westen acht de KunstMarkt het van groot belang de toegang – en daarnaast de aankoopprijzen van de kunstwerken – laagdrempelig te houden.
De opening van De KunstMarkt begint om 15.00 uur en zal duren tot 22.00 uur. U bent van harte welkom.

With using the most common extraction technique I've extracted hyacinthus and made the absolute.

With this method the extraction can take place in the room temperature, that means that the scent becomes closer to the real scent. It's concentrated, so it is preservable.

The Scents of Holland - releasing @ Kunstsuper
On January 19th 2008, The Scents of Holland is released at Kunstsuper, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
In the morning of that day, the hyacint gave flowers so I've extracted them right away. Thus, there became five different scents in the package.
"It smells like grandma..." (smelling the Sprouts)
"It gives another perspective to the Dutch scents that we are normally smelling."
There were also people who have purchased the scents.

It's a kind of smell that you don't want in your house. Very distinctive.
In Dutch saying, 'spruitjesgeur' (the scent of the sprouts) means the boarding house smell!

Releasing The Perfume of Holland
On this Saturday at Kunstsuper in Rotterdam, I'll release The Perfume of Holland.
It's a compilation of the Dutch scents that I've extracted myself.
5 bottles 0.5 ml for: 30 euro

Autumn Leaves - soxhlet extraction -
Since a month ago the street is filled with the scent of the autumn leaves.
Platanus, Cherry, Ginko trees, etc... (also collected my favourite ginko nuts)
Wash them, and make small peaces...
Then in the tea bag.
Soxhlet extraction
2 teabags, repeating 2 or 3 times for the each one.
The next day the extract has been concentrated.
The extract contains some tar.
The rest of the leaves are soaked in ethanol.
The scent of the nature, walking in the forest.
Somewhat similar to the tea scent.
Platanus, Cherry, Ginko trees, etc... (also collected my favourite ginko nuts)
Wash them, and make small peaces...
